Message re New Email Subscription Service

This is the first post that is being sent solely through the new email subscription service. If you're reading it, and have been an email subscriber, it means your email was successfully transferred to the new service, and you should receive an email every time there's a new post. (You may have received two emails for the last post. That should not happen again.) Thanks for subscribing!

Message to Email Subscribers

Google is terminating its email subscription service as of July 1. This post will be the last sent from the old system. As of July 1, I will be using another system managed by MailChimp, and I think I have transferred all the email subscribers to it. I will post something after July 1 to test that. If you are a current subscriber and have received this email, please look for a new email notification in the next few days. If you do not receive one by July 5, please re-subscribe at the link on the right, which will access the new system as of July 1. You can also notify me at thepolemicist.net@gmail.com, but I do not have a way of subscribing anyone myself. The request has to come to MailChimp from your email.

Personal Note

The death of a close family member, compounded by the annual holiday confusion, has kept me from posting for the past month.  I will return soon to the ongoing chronicle of strangeness and villainy.  In the meantime, Happy Holidays to all.

Blog Notes: Comment System

I'm aware that the comment protocols on this platform (Blogger) are awkward, and discourage participation.  I've provisionally opened up comments for anyone.  I'll see how that works out while I look into other comment systems.  I'm considering DIsqus, Intense Debate, and Livefyre.  If you have any experience with, or thoughts on, these comment systems,  please share them with me -- in a comment, or by email (contact form on right of page).
